KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), through the Cho Chun Shik Graduate School of Mobility, in cooperation with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Government of the Republic of Korea, is pleased to announce the Mobility AX Global Expert Program (G-MAX) for the Fall 2026 intake.

 

This program aims to develop global experts capable of applying IT and AI technologies to mobility systems, industry, and R&D, while strengthening institutional and technical capacity in partner countries.

 

[Program Objective]

The Mobility AX Global Expert Program contributes to:

  • Strengthening capacity in AI-driven mobility systems and smart transport technologies
  • Developing industry- and R&D-oriented experts capable of addressing mobility challenges in developing countries
  • Supporting sustainable mobility, smart infrastructure, and digital transformation
  • Enhancing international cooperation in eco-friendly mobility, intelligent mobility and smart mobility development

 

[Program Overview]

Degree: Master’s Degree (Thesis Track)
Host Institution: KAIST – Cho Chun Shik Graduate School of Mobility
Program Duration: 30 months, including pre-school (Korean language), academic coursework, thesis research, and internship.

Number of Vacancies: 15 students

Fields of Study:

  • Intelligent and Smart Mobility
  • Electric and Autonomous Mobility
  • Sustainable and Green Mobility

Key Components:

  • Pre-school program (IT/AI foundations and Korean language/culture)
  • Mobility AX interdisciplinary coursework
  • Lab-based research and thesis supervision
  • 6-month internship
  • Mobility workshops and conferences

 

[Target Countries]

This program specifically targets applicants from the following 13 countries (listed in alphabetical order): Bangladesh, Cambodia, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, and Viet Nam. Priority consideration may be given to applicants from Mongolia, Bangladesh, Egypt, and India.

 

[Eligibility Requirements]

Applicants must:

  • Be citizens of one of the target countries listed above
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field
  • Have academic or professional background related to mobility/transport, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, IT, AI, or related disciplines
  • Demonstrate strong potential to contribute to mobility, industry, policy, or R&D development in their home country
  • Meet the English proficiency requirements of KAIST or qualify for an English proficiency waiver

 

[English Language Requirement]

Minimum accepted scores (tests taken on or after March 17, 2024):

  • TOEFL iBT: 83
  • IELTS Academic: 6.5
  • TOEIC (Listening & Reading): 720
  • TEPS: 326

 

*Applicants are not required to submit an English test score if they are citizens of India, Pakistan, or the Philippines and have physically studied and completed a qualification equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree or higher, with English as the medium of instruction, at an institution located in one of these countries.

▫ A certificate verifying the medium of instruction (e.g., Certificate of English Medium of Instruction) must be submitted.

 

*Applicants are not required to submit an English score if they hold citizenship from one of the following countries, or if they have physically studied and completed a qualification equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree or higher at an institution located in one of these countries:

Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Malta, New Zealand, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

 

[English Proficiency Waiver]

Applicants may request a waiver if:

  1. They hold citizenship from a recognized English-speaking country; OR
  2. They hold citizenship from an eligible country and have completed a Bachelor’s degree or higher in English as the medium of instruction.

 

[Scholarship Benefits]

Selected participants will receive:

  • Full tuition coverage
  • Monthly stipends covering living expenses, National Health Insurance fee, and dormitory fees
  • Round-trip airfare
  • Financial support for academic activities and conferences

Applicants must submit their applications through the KAIST online admission system under KAIST regular track with a selection of KAIST Scholarship as your financial resource.
